South East Leisure partner with Victoria Police to promote safer communities

South East Leisure (SEL) have teamed up with Victoria Police to support the education and connection within the community across our four leisure facilities.

As host of the four of the major aquatic and leisure facilities in the City of Greater Dandenong, SEL facilities see a high number of patrons and the connection between the community and Victoria Police is critical to ensuring a fun, enjoyable and a safe community for all.

The partnership led to Victoria Police’s Dandenong division having a mobile police unit on site throughout a three day basketball tournament.  This unit saw police mixing with participants and building rapport with the community.

Sergeant Barrow said, “connecting with the community is a key focus and being able to have a presence at major events is a great way to build rapport, particularly with the youth at the AAU Tournament.”

SEL Venue Manager Ian Jenkins echoed Sergeant Barrows words, “the role police play within our communities is critical and we want to support Victoria Police in breaking down these barriers.”
